Update, August 2018:
St. Marys Cement has withdrawn its proposal for an under-the-lake limestone mine. It its public statement, the company says
“the Project has been put on indefinite hold. This will result in the withdrawal of our Environmental Assessment application with the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines (ENDM) and the cessation of related studies that were underway. Should future evaluation of the rock quality support revisiting this project, we will communicate with stakeholders in advance of any reapplication to the ENDM.”
